Introduction

I’m a Leeds‑based fractional CFO and former Group CFO with over 18 years’ experience in PE investor‑backed businesses, including infrastructure, engineering, retail and technology. I work with PE portfolio companies and growth SMEs to get a grip on cash, build investor‑grade reporting and make sure the finance function is genuinely fit for purpose as the business scales. My leadership style is calm, transparent and hands‑on: I like to get close to the numbers and the team, diagnose what’s really going on, and then set a clear, pragmatic plan that people can actually deliver. I’m collaborative with management but direct about risks and trade‑offs, and I’m used to acting as a trusted sparring partner for CEOs and CFOs under investor pressure or time‑critical change. What makes me an outstanding fractional executive is the mix of transferable skills I’ve built across sectors, combined with deep experience in PE, plc and SME environments, which lets me deliver quick wins on cash and reporting while building stronger teams and more robust finance functions rather than ongoing dependency. My experience leading a business through PE acquisition, ownership and exit also gives me a broader, commercial perspective than a purely finance lens. Operating on a fractional basis, I provide board‑level financial leadership, professionalise finance and sharpen decision‑making at a fraction of the cost and commitment of a full‑time hire.
