Introduction

After 30 years working in marketing in the UK and Ireland, I still love what I do and the difference I make to my clients. I started my marketing career in London and have worked for some of the biggest brands in the world, including Coca-Cola, BT and Penguin, developing marketing strategies and campaigns for them using integrated media channels. I love to use what I've learned working with these household brands to help smaller businesses and SME's. The big-brand strategic tools work for the smaller guys too and you don't need a blue chip budget to use them. I have worked in lots of different sectors over the years - food, tech, manufacturing, professional services. My clients say that I am easy to work with. They say that I am practical, down to earth, no bull. They say that I am a creative thinker and that I challenge them and the business - in a good way, that makes them see issues and solutions in a different way. I love Lean methodology - less the traditional academic version and more the continuous improvement "2 second lean" version (I think it's more practical and gets implemented better).

Key Achievements

The campaign I developed with my team to help Penguin books become more popular amongst young men in the UK - Good Booking is one I love as it shows strategic thinking and creativity. We also achieved a lot with a little budget. Instead of the usual messages about books improving the mind, we carried out research to back up our gut instinct that having the right book on your coffee table or in your hand makes men more attractive to the opposite sex (and for the same sex too). This was an original, fun and thought-provoking campaign that started conversations in the media as well as amongst the target audience.   I have worked s fractional CMO over the last 10 years and this year they have become the most rated Estate Agency in Ireland by Google with over 1200 5 star reviews. In addition they have exceeded all revenue goals and have increased profitability. A significant part of this is down to the brand strategy that I developed with them and helped them to implement over the years. The owner of the agency published a book last year largely based on this strategy "How to build a Smarter Faster Better Estate Agency" and credits me in it. This was huge recognition for me that I deeply appreciate.
